Cat Health Benefits

Natural – Hypoallergenic

Clinivet is formulated without wheat, beef, lamb and soya products. These ingredients are known to be common allergens, and can contribute to conditions such as digestive upsets, dry, flaky and itchy skin, and a dull coat. By excluding these products from the diet, it is possible to reduce the occurrence of these allergic reactions.

Healthy Skin

A shiny coat and healthy skin are signs of a healthy body. A balanced Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio is thought to reduce the incidence of inflammatory responses, such as dry, itchy, flaky skin, arthritis, visual defects, cancer and infertility. Essential oils from fish and linseeds are excellent sources of these essential fatty acids and help support the coat and skin condition.

Protects – Protected Immunity

A strong immune system is vital in keeping the body strong and healthy. This important defence mechanism protects the body from unwanted pathogens, and cells from oxidative damage.

Healthy Gut

A healthy gut helps protect against indigestion and promote a healthy gut environment, and can reduce the incidence of colitis and diarrhoea. The addition of fructo-oligosaccharides and mono-oligosaccharides to Clinivet boosts levels of ‘friendly’ gut bacteria and limit the growth of less friendly bacteria.

Controlled Release of Energy

The glycemic index (GI) is a measure of how quickly blood glucose levels rise after eating a particular type of food. A low GI food will release glucose (energy) into the body more slowly and steadily promoting a feeling of fullness for longer, whereas a high GI food releases glucose much faster, and is known to be associated with an increased risk of obesity.

Hairball Management

Cats’ tongues have small barbs which dislodge loose hair during grooming. The hair is swallowed and travels down into the stomach. It usually passes through the digestive tract without any problems, however sometimes it remains in the stomach and accumulates to form a hairball. Hairballs rarely cause problems, but when they reach a certain size, the cat tried to eliminate them by expulsion with the faeces, or by vomiting.

Hairballs can be prevented by feeding a dry food which helps reduce the formation of hairballs in the gut, in addition, Omega 3 fatty acids also help maintain good coat condition, reducing the quantity of hair which is lost.

Cardio Care

Taurine is thought to help protect against heart failure, and is essential for cardiovascular function, and the development of skeletal muscle and the central nervous system.

Urinary Care

FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disorder) is more commonly seen in the neutered, indoor, overweight cat, and occurs when stones or crystals become wedged in the narrowest point of the urethra. The two most common types of stone are “struvite” (composed of magnesium, ammonium and phosphate) and calcium oxalate. FLUTD results in the bladder becoming progressively distended, with abnormally increased amounts of urine causing a back pressure effect on the kidneys, and can be prevented by feeding a slightly acidic diet and by managing weight gain.

Dental Care

Cats usually accumulate plaque (food debris and bacteria) on the outside of their teeth, but not on the inside. This hardens to form tartar, irritating the gums and causing gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) and loss of teeth. The bacteria can occasionally enter the bloodstream and damage internal organs.

Lower in Fat

Overweight cats require a reduced calorie food to help prevent against weight gain. By feeding a low fat diet, your cat will still eat the same quantity of food (although will consume less calories) and yet not feel hungry immediately after mealtimes.

Fat Metabolism

L-carnitine helps the body produce energy. It is important for heart and brain function, muscle movement, and is known to mobilise fat reserves and help prevent weight gain.

Supported Growth

Vitamins and minerals are essential to maintain health and growth and are involved in the metabolic reactions in the body. They are necessary for the development of strong bones and teeth, and in nerve and muscle action.

Strong Bones

The bones and joints of dogs are placed under extreme stress and strain after intense exercise. This can cause the cells in the bones to breakdown, the cartilage to thin, and fragments to break off causing pain and swelling in the joint. Glucosamine sulphate, chondroitin sulphate and Methyl-Sulphonyl-Methane (MSM) are natural sugars which help preserve the joint integrity, and help aid conditions such as arthritis, by reducing pain and inflammation in the joint.

Cardio Care

Taurine is thought to help protect against heart failure, and is essential for cardiovascular function, and the development of skeletal muscle and the central nervous system.

Strong Muscles

A diet with a high protein and high meat content helps to build strong muscles and encourage lean body growth. Especially suitable for very active dogs, who are getting plenty of exercise every day.

Anti-Cramping

Muscles cramp when they contract (tighten) without you meaning to do so. This is more common when muscles are overused or injured, or when you have low levels of minerals and electrolytes in your body and can be very painful.

Strong Skeleton

A strong skeleton is needed to provide support for the body. It helps protect all internal organs from damage and provide the structure for muscles to attach so that the body can move. A correct balance of pH and minerals help promote a strong skeleton and help aid a speedy repair, should the body become damaged.
